The Following is the Current Owner’s Description
of the Instrument
This guitar's sound was always fantastic, but
it has now opened up even more! The basses are
what really blow me away; they are incredibly
deep and rich; loud, but not boomy. There is
a Gerardo Nunez piece I have been working on
that has the Low E dropped to a C and that low
C holds true and is still clear. I absolutely
love playing Villa Lobos' cello-ish pieces on
this guitar, as the basses actually sing like
a cello. The trebles are also clear as a bell;
I performed a Rodrigo piece "Pajaros de
Primavera" with lots of activity in the
high register and those high notes rung out
and filled the hall with practically no effort.
I have heard the complaint about many guitars
that are built to be loud, becoming "boomy"
and "muddy" over time. This Oberg
is incredibly loud, but does not sacrifice anything
in terms of sound quality; in fact the sound
just seems to get richer and sweeter with time.
Everyone at the Victoria Conservatory of Music
was highly impressed with this guitar when I
got it. This is truly an exceptional instrument
and a joy to play! There is a scratch on the
lower bout and the usual few little nail marks
by the sound hole. There is a ding in the top
in the lower bout area that has been filled
and French polished over. Other superficial
scrathes can only seen when closely examined
in certain light. The guitar itself and all
hardware, frets, etc., is in pristine condition.
